Minute Maid Park is located in the heart of downtown Houston and features both old-time and modern park amenities. The ballpark served as Houston’s first retractable-roof stadium, giving baseball fans a chance to enjoy outdoor baseball during favorable weather conditions. The ballpark features a grass field, and is most known for being hitter-friendly down the lines. The venue hosted the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2005, and the first World Series game ever played in Texas in 2005.

Events at Minute Maid Park

Some of the most popular events and activities hosted at Minute Maid Park include American football, soccer games, large-scale rock concerts, college baseball and tournaments featuring local schools including the University of Houston and Rice University. Madonna performed at Minute Maid Park in 2008, and the venue has served as a ceremony site for many weddings and other special events.

Minute Maid Park is located next to the old Union Station buildings, and was formerly known as the “Ten-Run” or “Home Run” field. The venue has become a distinctive part of the downtown Houston skyline and serves as the home for the Houston Astros.

The primary entrance to Minute Maid Park is Union Station, and the building serves as a symbol of the important role the railroad played in the city’s short history. The Houston Astros executive offices are located on the fourth and fifth floors, while the sixth floor serves as the Roof Deck and Club House at Union Station, hosting private groups of up to 100 guests.

Features and Highlights at Minute Maid Park

The playing field at Minute Maid Park has three wall heights and features a 6.7-acre playing surface. The park is most known for its retractable roof and is the largest open area of any retractable-roof baseball stadium in existence. Over 400 speakers are distributed throughout the concourses, and the venue features a large closed-captioning board, Daktronics black-and-white matrix board, and a Daktronics color matrix board for baseball fans.

The seating capacity at Minute Maid Park is 40,950 and features nine different seating areas, including Dugout Boxes, Field Boxes, Bullpen Boxes and an Upper Deck.
